Job Description

Position Overview:

Finance professional highly experienced in accounting and inventory transactions, including cost accounting, in a high-volume distribution environment. Capable of successfully providing financial leadership and management for a publicly traded company, which includes inventory costing, inventory controls, COGS & variance reporting, quick period-end closes, and financial & SOX audit support.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Cost Accounting (20%)
    • Maintaining standard costs from mix of third party suppliers and internal manufacturing. Will work closely with manufacturing plan cost accounting on internally manufactured product
    • Performing monthly analysis on PPV and material costing
    • Preparing reserve analysis for E&O, missing product and quality reserves
  • General Accounting (40%)
    • Modeling budgets, forecasts, Inventory DOH
    • Tracking spend budget vs. actual
    • Managing direct reports – Cost Accountant’s responsibilities include:
    • Reporting package for period-end closings
    • Standard monthly journal entries
    • Instrument fixed asset analysis and entries
    • Intercompany transfers
  • Inventory Management (20%)
    • Monitoring inventory transactions
    • Conducting physical inventories counts
    • Reconciling inventory counts to the sub-ledgers
    • Reconciling and recording sub-ledgers to the GL
    • Other Responsibilities
  • FP&A (20%)
    • Provide local finance support for Memphis based managers
    • Assist in preparing annual operation plan (budgets)
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Supporting distribution operations and supply chain
    • Month-end accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations
    • Improving internal control policies and procedures
    • Ad hoc modeling and analysis
    • Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of Cost/General Accounting/Finance experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Managed direct reports
  • Experience working with quality, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing personnel
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding and experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong cost accounting systems background
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP Experience
  • Publicly traded company experience
  • CPA or CMA
