Job Description

NuVasive is seeking an Engineering Manager to become the key member of our Robotics Spinal Surgery platform development team. The right candidate for this position can expect to work with our experienced engineers to develop our next generation biomedical device.  Work will include mechanical, electrical, software, test and system design. The work will be highly collaborative with both internal customers and external suppliers. This represents a unique opportunity for growth-oriented candidates with robotics experience interested in working in a smart team environment with opportunities to develop their expertise.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Translating marketing requirements into medical product designs, and developing engineering solutions to spine surgery problems leveraging a mix of advanced technologies
  • Project management expertise for scheduling and a budgeting
  • Process management experience on specific gates to align the organization
  • Documenting, implementing, integrating and verification testing of designs
  • Developing specifications of components and acceptance criteria for validation of designs
  • Overseeing prototype creation and testing using various system manufacturing processes
  • Collaborating with vendors and procurement team to specify, purchase and oversee fabrication of prototypes and pilot runs
  • Developing, documenting and execute testing protocols for instruments and systems
  • Administering and implementing design changes to bring the product to the regulated medical device market
  • Performing engineering analysis; and conducting testing and data analysis on a variety of problems to ensure product functionality and reliability
  • Documenting purchase specifications for components used in the designs using NuVasive’s corporate processes and design entry tools
  • Creating a fun team culture in a fast paced environment for the different engineering development disciplines
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7 to 12 years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience in designing, documenting, manufacturing and testing medical instruments or carts for robotic medical systems
  • Experience with design history file process
  • Proven track record of analyzing problems and implementing mechanical, electrical and software solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and teams effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to respond and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient in developing system launch plans and budgets to reflect justify the resources required for the project completion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with a strong ability to write business reports and correspondence as well as the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and management of organization.
